If there’s one thing that brings together the different strands of Neela’s activities, it is a focus on futures. More specifically, the transformation of personal futures, organisational futures and ecological futures. Much of her work is with leaders and senior managers operating with successful, up and coming brands and new technologies in the private and public sector.
“Much of the turmoil that we have witnessed recently, across the globe, has reinforced rather than undermined my core belief that at every level - individual, team, organisational, societal - achieving a successful, fulfilling and genuinely sustainable future depends on an alignment between values and actions, beliefs and strategies. The ‘why’ as well as the ‘what’.
“All too often the need for that alignment has been dismissed or overlooked in a dash for short-term gains; gains measured against simplistic targets. At best, they wither on the vine. At worst, as we have seen, they can explode in our faces.
“So how do we bring about this new alignment? How do we achieve change and growth that lasts? The answer lies in rediscovering our connectedness. We have become too reductionist. At every level, from the personal upwards, we have lost sight of our place in the world. And, economic disturbances notwithstanding, as we face an ecological crisis that simply cannot be wished away, the need for a new approach, a transformative approach which integrates the ‘who we are’ with the ‘what we do, what we say and how we say it’ has never been so important."
